The Kimberley Superior Saddle from Down Under Saddle SupplyI purchased the Kimberley Superior saddle with a horn on sale for $499.00 and I absolutely love it! Not only does it look good, it is extremely comfortable and weighs much less than my 50 lb western ranch saddle, 25 lbs less to be exact. The Kimberley superior is the top of the line Kimberley series saddle, and after riding in it, I now know why. Down Under Saddle supply is a family owned business that provides well made Australian saddles at an affordable price for the average rider. I purchased my Kimberley Superior saddle through their secure website after taking a wither tracing of my horse. They tell you exactly how to get an accurate wither tracing right on their website and its as easy 1-2-3. I faxed the tracing to them with the other information they requested and they sent me my saddle within a week. It fits my mare perfectly! There are not too many places where you can get a saddle for under $600.00 that has been custom fitted to your horse. The customer service I received was excellent as well. I had a few questions regarding fitting of my Kimberley Superior so I called during after hours and left a message. I was called back the following morning and had all my questions regarding the saddle answered. They were very professional and courteous. Customer service seems to have fallen by the wayside nowadays so it was a breath of fresh air being so well looked after. The saddle itself is absolutely beautiful. The two tone black and brown leather and the engraved leather panels add to the overall look of this saddle. The leather is of a very high quality and feels very soft to the touch. The brass hardware is all hand engraved and looks very rich, almost like cut gold. The seat is soft and somewhat springy thanks to the special suspended seat system. The panels are hand-stuffed and self adjusting conforming to the horses back. Usually I have sore knees by the end of a 1 hour ride on my big ranch saddle, but with my Kimberley Superior saddle, my knees are fine by the time I get home. The seat is 4 1/2" deep and feels very secure like its holding you in place. The 4" kneepads or poleys also contribute to the Australian saddle's ability of making the rider feel very safe in almost any situation. It was those 4" kneepads that saved me when my horse got spooked by something and decided to do an instant 180 degree turn just at the moment I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. I'm sure in my western saddle that I would have been flat on the ground. In conclusion, I would have to recommend the Kimberley Superior Australian saddle or any of the Kimberley series of saddles to anyone wanting that extra little bit of comfort and security while riding. I'm also sure that my horse appreciates the fact that this saddle weighs half as much as my western saddle. If you are thinking of purchasing an Australian saddle, don't think twice, just do it!! Like me, you'll definitely be glad you did!!
